(Music 1141) Meets Tuesday & Thursday, 12:30-1:45 - 138 Castleman Hall
The Missouri S&T Chamber Choir is an auditioned, 24 to 28 member SATB ensemble. Auditions, held during the first class period of each semester, consist of vocalizing to check range, sightreading, and either a solo of the singer’s choice or the melody of the Star Spangled Banner. This ensemble performs works encompassing all genres, but focuses more on acappella pieces.
(Music 1140) Meets Tuesday & Thursday, 2:00-3:15 - 138 Castleman Hall
Open to any student, faculty, or staff member, University Choir is a non-auditioned mixed ensemble. If you’ve never sung in choir before or you want to brush up your singing skills, this ensemble is ideal. Rehearsal time is spent not only on learning several concert pieces, but also on how to sing, how to read music, and to become a better singer and musician.
Meets Monday & Wednesday, 12:00-12:50 - 138 Castleman Hall
Started in Spring 2014, the Men’s Chorus has quickly become a popular ensemble on the S&T campus. Open to all men – students, faculty, staff – on campus, this group sings pieces from all eras for TTBB. While not a class, the Men’s Chorus serves as an artistic outlet on campus and is sponsored by the Miner Choir Guild.
All choirs participate in one concert per semester in Leach Theatre. Other performances include Opening Week Convocation and St. Pat’s Coronation as well as combining with the Rolla Choral Arts Society for large scale choral performances. Black dresses for the women and tuxes for the men are provided. Women will need black hose and black shoes. Men will need a white tux shirt (not a regular dress shirt, tux shirts can be ordered through the office secretary), black socks, and black shoes.
